Thelma Hull

MONTEREY, VA

Thelma “Mae” Hull, 93, of Monterey, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 1, 1924 in Mustoe, VA a daughter of the late Ira Ernest and Emma (Folks) Doyle.

Mrs. Hull was a member of Victory Chapel Advent Christian Church and the Highland County Senior Citizens.  She worked at Aileen, Inc. and High’s Restaurant. Additionally, during World War II Mrs. Hull worked as a riveter building planes for the war effort.  She also enjoyed sewing, working word puzzles, and especially, spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Edward Hull; two sons, Delmas “Moose” Wayne Doyle, and Donald “Duck” Hull; as well as 14 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Hull is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Larry Maynard of Warm Springs; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary "Beef" and Rhonda “Kay” Hull, Ernest "Radar" and JoAnn Hull, Russell "Beetle" and Melissa Hull, and Larry "Sop" and Jeanie Lou Hull, all of Monterey; 11 granddaughters, Meranda Lokey, Lacy Graham, Teresa Phillips, Tracey Hall, Chasity Hull, Emily, Amy, and Andrea Hull, Cheyna Mason, and Summer and Cody Cohen; 10 grandsons, David Doyle, Larry “Trey” Williams III, Gary Daniel Hull, Bradley and Scott Hull, Travis Kay, Gregory Hull, Jamie Hull, Asher Cohen, and Randy Maynard; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as beloved companion of her son Donald, Vickie Hoover of Monterey.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Pastor Kenny Carroll officiating.  Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hull’s grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Granddaughters and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
