Vernon “Pop” Dalhart Murr, 71, died on Monday, February 8, 1999 at the home of Dean Moyers, where he resided.
He was born on February 5, 1928, at Tennessee, a son of Robert Lee and Stella (Ferguson) Murr.
He was a retired truck driver. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by a daughter, Janice M. Moyers of Chester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon F. and Frances Murr of Emporia and Jeffrey I. and Ellen Murr of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Dean, Brian, Amanda, Tina, Jerry, Melinda and Rebecca; a sister, Jean H. Brydge of Stuarts Draft, two half-brothers; and two half-sisters.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
