Mrs. Viola Edith Hise, 84, of Monterey died Friday evening, November 11, 1988 at King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was born August 4, 1904, in West Virginia, a daughter of George and Elizabeth (Halterman) Washburn.

She was a member of Pisgah Presbyterian Church.

On December 29, 1920, she married Clay Andrew Hise, who died July 2, 1975.

Surviving are dix daughters, Irene Pingley of Warren, Ohio, Jane Waybright of Monterey, Hazel Shifflet of Arbovale, WV, Goldie Teti of Landover, Md., Imogene Colaw of College Park, Md., and Mary Hise of Monterey; three sons, Sterling of Hightown, Edward of Bartow, WV and Clellan Hise of College Park, Md; two sisters, Goldie Wooddell of Front Royal and Dasey Fry of Noton, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children, Stanley Hise and Edith Jolley.

A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Ginn, with burial in Arbovale Cemetery, Arbovale, WV.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Hevener, Richard Waybright, Saul Simmons, Bob Colaw, Albert Beverage and Robert Gum.

Grandchildren will serve as flower bearers.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in McDowell.
