Virginia Bishop

Virginia Phillips Bishop, 89, of 24 Peyton Street, Staunton, died Monday, August 30, 1999.

She has born December 11, 1909 at Head Waters, a daughter of John William and Oda (Rader) Phillips.

On January 4, 1930, she married William Roy Bishop, who died on August 14, 1979.

She was a member of Staunton Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Mary Janet Bishop, Julia Elaine (Bishop) Fleisher and Ruby Irene (Bishop); and a son, Glen E. Bishop.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce and Ernest Sweitzer Jr. of Monterey and Betty Jean Bishop of Staunton; three sisters, Ruth Pullins of Shenandoah Nursing Home, JoAnna Wyant and Mary Jane Crummett of Staunton; two brothers Raymond of Staunton and Leo Phillips of Maryland; six grandchildren, Joe Manor of Staunton, Billy Manor of Harrisonburg, Kimberley Samples of Middletown Ohio, Glenda Blackwell of Churchville, Wesley Fleisher of Franklin, W.Va and Steve Sweitzer of Monterey; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Head Waters Cemetery by the Rev, W. Ruff.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 tonight at Obaugh Funeral Home and other times at the home of Junior and Joyce Sweitzer.
