Walter "Tom" Beverage

Walter Lee “Tom” Beverage, 79, of Monterey, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at The Springs Nursing Center.  He was born February 17, 1930 in Highland County a son of the late Olin S. and Mattie May (Ryder) Beverage.

Mr. Beverage was a sheep, cattle and poultry farmer and a maple syrup producer.  In the 1970’s, he built the first modern turkey house in Highland County.  He was a member of Seybert Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Dennis, Fred and Clarence Beverage and three sisters, Mary Rexrode, Marie Beverage and Ida Fleisher.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Maxine (Hevener) Beverage, whom he married September 7, 1951; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jon Donaldson; two sons, Wayne and Bob Beverage; two granddaughters, Emily and Sarah Donaldson; and a brother, John Beverage all of Monterey.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Beverage Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jim, Berlin, Jack and Harold Beverage, Russell Fleisher and Conley Colaw.

The family will receive friends at the home and ½ hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
