Warren Steve Harper, 74, a retired farmer of Blue Grass, passed away Friday night, December 15, 1989 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 7, 1915 at Circleville, WV, a son of the late Boyd and Leoda Kate (Weiford) Harper.
He attended Blue Grass United Methodist Church. Prior to moving to Highland County and becoming a full-time farmer, he was owner and operator of W.S. Harper Tree Service at College Park, Md.
His wife, Catherine C. Harper, died January 6, 1989.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Lou Drummond of Cobb Island, MD, Judy Mae Vinson of Leon, Iowa, Edna Catherine Chestnut of Stephens City and Elizabeth Harper of Blue Grass; two sisters, Mary H. Judy of Franklin, WV, and Alice H. Will of Blue Grass; brother, J. Paul Harper of Riverton, WV; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Blue Grass United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Gibson, with burial in Blue Grass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stephen and Lawrence McDonnell, Willie Pryor, Dennis Vinson, Michael Chestnut and John Lysowski.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
