Worely H. "Tom" Thomas, 84, of Monterey died Thursday morning, May 12, 1988 at his residence.
He was born Oct 2, 1903 at Burnsville, N.C., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Z. B. Thomas.
He was a retired superintendent of Rust Engineering Co., a member of the Baptist Church and Mill Gap Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his widow, Rebecca E. Thomas of Monterey, two sons, Terry of Penn Laird and Gene Thomas of Newland, N.C.; one daughter, Joyce Benefield of Morganton, N.C.; two stepchildren, Helen Ganbee of Ripley, W.Va., and Joe Easter of Cottageville, W.Va.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service was conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Beulah Presbyterian Church, Mill Gap, by the Rev. William Cox and the Rev. Jerry Ginn, with burial in Monterey.
Pallbearers will be Pat and June Lowry, Joe Simmons, Wayne Marshall, Lee Easter and Mark Fay.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mill Gap Ruritan Club.
The family will receive friend 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
