Beulah Simmons

November 24, 1925 — February 20, 1995

Beulah (Ralston) Simmons, 69, of McDowell, died Monday morning, February 20, 1995 at her daughter’s home at Doe Hill.

She was born November 24, 1925 at Highland County, a daughter of Van and Mabel Vanlear (Varner) Ralston. On April 29, 1944, she married John Roscoe Simmons who preceded her in death on May 7, 1994.

She was a member of the Hiner Brethren Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna (Simmons) Burns of Doe Hill; a foster daughter, Frances M. Riley of Harrisonburg; two sons, John M. of Blue Grass and Gary L. Simmons of Doe Hill; two brothers, Dennis Ralston of Woodbridge, and Roger Moats of Verona; five sisters, Bonnie Nuckoles of Mint Spring, Corita Smith of Verona, and Wilma Harlow, Mary Lambert and Dorothy Moyers, all of Staunton; two grandchildren and four foster grandsons.

Mrs. Simmons I preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Allen Ralston and a sister, Daisy Hoover.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. E.B. Showmaker. Burial will be in the McKendree Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve and Lyle Wayne Armstrong, C.W. Hammer, James White, Steve Burns and David Neil.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in McDowell. There will be no public viewing.
