January 31, 1958 — April 17, 2020

Charles “Duke” Eugene Rexrode, 62, of Staunton passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 in Swoope.

He was born January 31, 1958, in Petersburg, WV, a son of Charles Elbert Rexrode of Moyers, WV and the late Martha Elizabeth (Rexrode) Rexrode. On April 10, 1982 he married Rebecca Jean Armstrong in Doe Hill.

Duke began his working career building bridges with his father. He then spent many years working in construction before starting work for the City of Harrisonburg. He has spent the last 14 years as a building inspector, where he had a close knit relationship with the contractors.

He loved spending time with his sons outdoors, working on trucks, going to truck pulls, hunting and fishing in Doe Hill and Moyers. He enjoyed farming and cutting wood with his brother-in-law, Scotty. Duke took pride in being the “favorite uncle” to his special nieces and nephews. He was someone they could always look up to and know he was always there to give a helping hand. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and loyal friend. To know Duke was to love him and he will be remembered as having never met a stranger. Words cannot express how much he was loved by his family and friends.
