Kring (Woods) Campbell, 94, formerly of 207 Highland Avenue, Staunton, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Envoy of Staunton.
She was born October 28, 1925 in Highland, a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Mamie (Hull) Woods. On August 1, 1943 she married James Brown Campbell Jr., who predeceased her June 15, 2003.
Raised in Hightown, Kring was a member of Hightown United Methodist Church and graduate of Monterey High School. She had worked and retired as a receptionist at Western State Hospital. She enjoyed needlework and time spent with her grandchildren. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband, predeceased family members include a son, James S. Campbell and special cousin, Albert Shultz.
Kring is survived by two daughters, Lucinda C. Sprouse and husband, Eugene of Craigsville and Deborah Argenbright and husband, Harold of Mt. Solon; son, Donald “Don” W. Campbell of Staunton; sister, Shirlene Woods Thomas of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Kimberly Yoakum, Tawnya Campbell, Aaron B. Campbell and wife, Anne, Eugene Sprouse Jr. and wife, Jennifer and Jason Sprouse; great-grandchildren, Aaron J., Aiden and Abigail Campbell, Alex Spouse, and Christopher and Vanessa Yoakum; as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Oliver and Elizabeth Grace Campbell.
Taking governmental recommendations into consideration, the family will hold a private graveside service in Hightown Cemetery with the Rev. George Taylor officiating. Obaugh Funeral Home staff will receive those wishing to pay their respects throughout the day on Tuesday, March 24th, between 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
