Luther “Ashley” Gibson, 50, of Warm Springs went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 23, 2021 at his residence.
He was born October 26, 1970 in Grundy, a son of Patricia Ann Hoskinson Gibson and the late Luther A. Gibson.
A U.S. Army veteran, Ashley served during Desert Storm in engineering communications. He was a well-loved bellman with 20-plus years of service at the Homestead Resort, prior to his early retirement due to his decline in health. Ashley enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and listening to music. He was known as the “life of the party.” Above all, he loved to pamper his daughters and his grandchildren were his whole world.
Ashley is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nora Ryder Gibson of Warm Springs; three daughters, Krissy Shifflett and husband, Kory of Warm Springs, Rachael Gibson and fiancé, Josh Feury of Hot Springs and Samantha Gill and husband, Dheak of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Karter and Khloe Shifflett, Paisley Feury; two sisters, Amanda Underwood and husband, Mitch and children, Anna and Avery of Covington; and Abigail Sizemore and husband, Chris and their children, Jordan and Grayson of Covington; mother-in-law, Pete “Mom” Ryder; special niece, Shannon Boguess and husband, AJ and children, Jake and Jase; special nephews, Zack and Aaron Ryder, additional nieces and nephews, as well as a “honorary daughter,” Emily Lowry of Warm Springs.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, James Lewis “Jamie” Gibson.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Life Line Ministries with Pastor Zach Royer officiating.
