Owen Gideon Hiner Sr., 86, of Monterey, died on Wednesday, February 22, 1995 at his residence.
He was born on January 8, 1909 at Thornwood, WV, a son of Davy G. Hiner and Grace (Varner) Hinder Botkin.
On August 23, 1942 he married Turetha (Wimer) Hiner of Monterey, who survives. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1926. He spent the majority of his life farming at Doe Hill, before retiring and moving back to Monterey. He was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church.
In addition to his widow, surviving are two daughters, France Ann Hiner of Pearl City, Hawaii and Patricia Vera Auble of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Owen Gideon II of Monterey and David Lee Hiner of Harrisonburg; nine grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.
A service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. Robert Haley and Charles Turner, with burial in Monterey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lee Blagg, Tom Jones, Willie Smith and Taylor, Lee and Tracy Hiner.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home in McDowell.
