Timothy "Timmy" Wales

January 28, 1969 — May 24, 2020

Timothy "Timmy" William Wales, 51, of Staunton and formerly West Augusta, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 at University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born January 28, 1969 in Augusta County, a son of June (Grimm) Davis of Staunton and the late Samuel Smythe Wales, Jr.

Timmy had worked as an electrician, but more importantly was a life-long logger, who loved logging for no other reason than being in the woods.  He loved to be outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, or just “going for a ride” and usually without a destination. No matter how serious the situation, Timmy could make you laugh at any given time with one of his many sayings; he truly had a great sense of humor and could find something funny in just about anything.  Even though he was always goofing around, he was truly loving, caring, had the biggest heart and was always trying to help someone in need. He loved his wife and sons, including Jenkins the cat!  Additionally, Timmy loved spending time with friends and family, especially during the weekend “functions” as he would call them. He will be remembered as having never met a stranger, could start a conversation with anyone and was never known to be shy. Above all, Timmy will be remembered for loving life and his sense of being free.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two sons, Shawn Donavon Wales (Heisha Huffer) of Mt. Solon and Dylan Wales of Churchville; granddaughter, Karsen Wales; brothers Samuel Wales, III of Augusta County and Anthony Robertson of Staunton; as well as numerous extended family members.

The family will hold a private gathering in honor of Timmy’s life at a later date.
