Twila Roberts

April 6, 1932 — March 27, 2006

Twila Jane Roberts, age 73, of Burnsville, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at her home.  She was born April 6, 1932 at Burnsville a daughter of the late Tom and Leta (Folks) Burns.  On December 22, 1950 she married Richard Dale Roberts.  In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Roberts operated Roberts’ Grocery Store for 22 years.  Mrs. Roberts also was a member of the Burnsville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Roberts, and three brothers, Darrell, Julian “June”, and Rembert Burns.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Donna “Susie” Hickman of Burnsville, Dawn Delores and Scott Duncan of Burnsville, and Crystal Dale Roberts of Burnsville; Two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Dale “Sam” Jr. and Linda Roberts of Burnsville, Wesley Eugene and Debbie Roberts of Burnsville; Three sisters, Helen Puffenbarger of Staunton, Edith Jackson of Verona, and Jean A. Roberts of Burnsville; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, as well as the beloved family pet, Fluffy.  A funeral service will be conducted 2pm Thursday, March 30, 2006 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by Pastor Debbie Carey and Donald Altizer.  Burial will follow at the Burnsville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ralph Roberts, Kevin Armstrong, Grady Roberts Jr., Michael Roberts, Jamie Wilfong, Jayme Roberts, Robbie Hickman, and Devin Duncan.  Family and friends in attendance will act as honorary pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7pm to 9pm Wednesday.
